Cesenatico's canal harbour, laid out in the early 1500s with a design attributed in part to Leonardo da Vinci, still moors traditional flat-bottomed Adriatic fishing boats a few steps from the beach. The sand runs in the same unbroken Romagna style as neighbouring resorts, with a floating maritime museum in the canal itself.
