Cave di Bauxite
Puglia
Mined for bauxite ore until the mid-20th century, this abandoned quarry gradually filled with rainwater, and the mineral-rich red soil surrounding the now emerald-green pool creates one of the most photogenic contrasts on the Salento coast. Wild olive and pine have slowly recolonised the crater's rim.
