Castello di Ussel, Châtillon

Aosta Valley

Ussel is a single massive rectangular keep, one of the first of its kind in the valley, standing alone on a crag above the Marmore valley. A path climbs to it through vineyards and scrub from Châtillon, with a wide view over the valley floor, the Cervino at the head of the Valtournenche and Châtillon's belle-époque villas.
