Cascate di Stroppia, Val Maira

The Cascata di Stroppia in the Val Maira above Chiappera falls 170 m in a single arc from the Gardetta plateau — one of the most spectacular alpine waterfalls in the Maritime Alps. Val Maira is the most intact Occitan-speaking valley in Italy (the Franco-Provencal dialect is still spoken by older villagers). The approach through the valley passes stone Occitan farmhouses.
