Cascate del Forato
Tuscany
Above the village of Fornovolasco, the stream drops through a limestone arch worn smooth by centuries of flow, giving the falls their name (forato, 'pierced'). The trail climbs through beech and chestnut woods typical of the Apuane's western flank, with views back toward the marble quarries of the range. It's a popular but still uncrowded detour from the nearby Grotta del Vento show cave.
