Cascata del Rio Freddo

Friuli-Venezia Giulia

As its name suggests, the Rio Freddo runs notably cold even in summer, emerging from karst springs in the Julian Alps before dropping through a shaded forest ravine near Tarvisio. The trail climbs gently alongside the stream through spruce and beech, with occasional glimpses of the jagged Mangart and Jôf Fuart ridgelines above the canopy.
