The Cascata di Pianazzo above Madesimo falls 278 m in one of the longest waterfall sections in Lombardy — best seen in May–June from snowmelt. The approach from Chiavenna passes the famous crotti — natural caves in the rock used as wine cellars, where the constant temperature preserves the local Bitto and Valchiavenna cheeses. Dogs welcome on the valley path.
