Cascata di Carpinone
Molise
The waterfall of Carpinone plunges 25 m into a beech-shaded gorge fed by the springs of the Mainarde mountains. A short trail from the village passes old water mills (mulini) before reaching the cascade. Molise has almost no tourism infrastructure so this waterfall is genuinely private even in high season. The beech forest above is ancient — some trees exceed 300 years.
