Cascata della Morricana, Monti della Laga
Abruzzo
Unlike the limestone Apennines, the Laga are sandstone and hold water, so their slopes run with streams. Above Ceppo a forest path climbs to the Morricana, where meltwater and springs pour over a mossy sandstone step in several strands; in early summer it is thunderous, framed by beech.
