The Cascata dell'Acquacheta above San Benedetto in Alpe in the Foreste Casentinesi falls 70 m in a single jet through a notch in the sandstone cliff. Dante Alighieri described the sound in Inferno, Canto XVI (lines 94-102) — 'as the Acquacheta falls thundering from the Alpine rock'. The approach through chestnut forest takes 90 minutes. The valley has dipper, otter and kingfisher. Dogs welcome.
