The Torrente Pietramala area near Pietramala on the Bologna Apennines has both a 30 m waterfall and the famous 'Fuochi di Pietramala' — natural methane gas vents that have burned continuously since Roman times. The gas flames (50–70 cm) erupt from the ground at multiple points. Pliny the Elder described these fires. The waterfall is in the valley below. Dogs welcome on the valley path.
