Cascata del Rio Freddo

Tucked into a narrow side valley off the main Valnerina gorge, this modest fall stays noticeably cooler than the surrounding hills, living up to its name (rio freddo, 'cold stream'). Ferns and moss blanket the ravine walls where sunlight rarely reaches. It's a low-traffic alternative to the region's more famous Marmore falls further south.
