Cascata del Marmarico
Calabria
Reached via a long, rugged trail from Bivongi through the Stilaro valley, this cascade drops close to a hundred metres in a series of leaps down a granite amphitheatre deep in the Aspromonte foothills. The approach passes the ruins of the medieval Certosa di Serra San Bruno's associated hermitages and dense Mediterranean woodland. It's one of the most physically demanding but rewarding waterfall hikes in Calabria.
