Carsulae — Roman town on the Via Flaminia
Umbria
Carsulae grew on the western branch of the Via Flaminia, then declined after earthquakes and a shift of the road. Never rebuilt over, it keeps the twin temples, basilica, forum, an amphitheatre, cisterns, tombs along the road and the "Arco di San Damiano" gate, spread across meadow and holm oak below the Martani hills.
