Capestrano — Guerriero di Capestrano Site

A farmer ploughing his field near Capestrano in 1934 uncovered the Guerriero di Capestrano, a striking 6th-century BC limestone statue now considered a defining artefact of the pre-Roman Piceni or Vestini culture. The Tirino river valley around the find site gives easy, flat countryside walking near the Aterno river.
