Cansiglio Plateau Autumn Walk

The Cansiglio plateau in October has two remarkable phenomena: the rutting of the fallow deer herd (reintroduced from the Hapsburg era), whose calls fill the beech forest for three weeks; and the daily fog that fills the doline sinkholes creating an ocean of mist at dawn. The golden beech canopy completes the spectacle.
