Sorgenti di Callora, Campochiaro

Molise

The Callora springs at Campochiaro emerge from the base of the Matese karst aquifer and feed a complex of shallow ponds and reed-beds that have become a significant wetland. Grey and purple herons breed here, kingfishers are resident year-round and the dragonfly diversity is among the highest in the Apennines. The springs never freeze and the site functions as a wildlife refuge year-round.
