This cove takes its dramatic shape from centuries of tufo stone quarrying, leaving stepped rock terraces and small pools that fill with impossibly clear turquoise water against pale limestone walls. The quarrying industry, once central to Favignana's economy, left similar carved basins across the island's western side. Snorkellers favour the deeper pools near the point, where the seabed drops quickly just offshore.
