Cala Feola on Ponza island's west coast is a series of volcanic tuff coves with crystal water. The Roman fish pools (piscinae) are carved into the volcanic rock at sea level — the Romans cut elaborate pools connected to the sea to farm fish for the emperor's table. The west coast of Ponza is inaccessible by road and has the island's wildest scenery.
