Bruncu Spina
Sardinia
This peak hosts Sardinia's only real ski facility, modest by Alpine standards but a point of local pride, with the same slopes turning into open granite hiking terrain once the snow clears. The trail connects toward Punta La Marmora along the exposed Gennargentu ridge, passing through some of the last stands of holly and yew on the massif. Snow can linger into May in sheltered gullies, unusual for a Mediterranean island.
