Bosco di Mercadante
Puglia
The Bosco di Mercadante is one of the few forests in the otherwise treeless Murgia plateau. The state forest of ancient oaks, pines and mastic trees is a sanctuary for birds and rare reptiles. Flat gravel tracks make it ideal for a quiet morning walk — nightingales sing here from March to June.
