Bosco Magnano, Montescaglioso
Basilicata
The Bosco Magnano near Montescaglioso is a 700-hectare old-growth oak and Turkey oak forest on a plateau above the Bradano valley — one of the largest surviving primary woodlands in Basilicata. The trees reach 25 m with girths exceeding 3 m on the oldest specimens. Wild boar, foxes and short-toed eagles inhabit the forest. The complete absence of tourism infrastructure means complete solitude.
