The Bosco di Ficuzza near Corleone was the royal hunting reserve of the Bourbon kings of Sicily — 7,000 ha of ancient holm oak, cork oak and turkey oak woodland. Golden eagle nests in the park (one of the few remaining Sicilian pairs). The Casina Reale di Ficuzza is a Bourbon hunting lodge open to visitors. Wolf has recently been confirmed in the Palermitan Apennines adjacent to the forest.
