The Navette forest cloaks the ridge between the upper Tanaro valley and the Ligurian Alps at around 1,800 m, a cool green world of larch, fir and pasture clearings. Gravel military roads — part of the famous Monesi–Limone "Via del Sale" — thread through it with wide views to the Marittime and the sea.
