Bosco della Ficuzza near Corleone in Palermo province was the royal hunting forest of the Bourbon kings of Sicily — a magnificent holm oak and Sicilian fir (Abies nebrodensis — critically endangered, only 30 trees in the wild) forest around the Casina Reale (hunting lodge, 1803). Golden eagle resident. Sicilian wildcat. Porcupine. The Rocca Busambra above the forest is a peregrine cliff. Dogs off-leash.
