The Sasseto is a 60-hectare relic wood of giant oaks, maples, limes and yews growing over a chaos of lava boulders, kept deliberately "wild" since the 19th century by the Marquis Cahen, whose neo-Gothic mausoleum stands among the trees. Visits are guided and limited to protect it.
