Bosco del Peglio, Perugia
Umbria
The Bosco del Peglio near Città di Castello in the Alta Valle del Tevere is one of the oldest managed chestnut forests in Umbria — traditional coppice with standards management has created a two-layered forest with very old standards (some over 200 years) above the coppice understorey. Black woodpecker confirmed. Roe deer. Porcupine tracks everywhere. The Tiber valley below is the landscape Perugino painted as background. Dogs off-leash.
