Belvedere Marittimo lives up to its name from the ruined castle at the top of its old town, with an open view down over the Riviera dei Cedri's citron groves to the Tyrrhenian coast. The stone lanes climbing to the castle are steep in short stretches but manageable, with the sea visible for much of the way up.
