The Barrage de Place Moulin in the upper Valpelline is one of the most scenic mountain reservoirs in Italy — blue-green water at 1,968 m surrounded by the walls of the Grand Combin (4,314 m) and the Grandes Murailles. The dam road gives extraordinary views. The reservoir is fed by the Mont Durand and Tsa de Tsan glaciers. Ibex on the slopes above. Chamois at the waterline. Dogs off-leash.
