Nuraghe Tiscali, Barbagia
Sardinia
Tiscali is a village of Nuragic-era circular stone houses built inside an enormous collapsed limestone sinkhole — hidden from view at ground level and only reachable by a challenging trail through the Supramonte. It was inhabited until Roman times and rediscovered in 1900. The interior is a cathedral-sized cave with trees growing among the ruins.
