Bova — Calabrian Greek Village

Calabria

Bova is one of the last villages where Griko is spoken — a Greek dialect descending from the Byzantine and earlier Magna Graecia colonisation, surviving for 2,500 years in these Aspromonte villages. The village on its ridge above the Ionian has extraordinary views and a small museum of the Grecanico language and culture.
