Anversa degli Abruzzi & Gole del Sagittario

Abruzzo

Anversa clusters on a spur where the Sagittario river bursts out of a deep limestone canyon, inspiration for D'Annunzio's tragedy "La fiaccola sotto il moggio". The WWF reserve protects the gorge, its rare flora and a reintroduced colony of griffon vultures often seen circling the walls.
