This vast, gently rolling plateau above Val Gardena and Val d'Isarco has been grazed for centuries and is now protected within the Sciliar-Catinaccio nature park, closed to private cars in summer to preserve its quiet. Wildflower meadows peak in June and July, and the flat-topped Sciliar cliffs and the spires of Sassolungo frame the horizon in almost every direction.
