Agnone — the town of bells
Molise
Agnone sits on a ridge at 800 m in the beech-and-fir Alto Molise, its steep main street lined with the mansions of a medieval goldsmiths' and coppersmiths' colony. The Marinelli foundry has cast bells here since about 1040, supplying the Vatican; the surrounding hills hold Samnite sites and old drove roads.
