The Abbazia di Pomposa near Codigoro is a 9th-century Benedictine complex rising from the Po Delta pineta (pine forest). Guido d'Arezzo, monk here in the 11th century, invented modern musical notation — the do-re-mi solfège system. The Romanesque campanile is 48 m tall. The surrounding pine forest has hoopoe and golden oriole in summer. Dogs on leash in the forest.
