Abbazia di Sant'Eutizio, Preci

Umbria

The Abbazia di Sant'Eutizio above Preci in the Valnerina is one of the oldest monasteries in Umbria — founded in the 5th century on the site of a hermit's cave. The monastery hosted a remarkable medieval school of surgery (the Preciani surgeons). The gorge above has a small waterfall. The church has excellent 12th-century frescoes. Dogs on leash near the abbey.
