The fortified pieve and abbey of Santa Maria di Monteveglio crown a spur where Matilda of Tuscany once held out against the Emperor. The small regional park around it protects oak and hornbeam wood, calanchi and old vineyards, with easy loops from the medieval "castello" hamlet.
