A short but steep side valley off the main Frasassi gorge, Scappuccia is a protected nature reserve where a stream drops over a series of small karst waterfalls through beech and holm oak. A marked trail climbs beside the water to a natural spring, far quieter than the crowds at the show caves nearby.
