Udine's castle sits on a small artificial hill that tradition says was built by Attila the Hun to watch Aquileia burn, giving a view down over Piazza Libertà, often called one of the most beautiful Venetian-style squares outside Venice itself. The climb is short and the grounds around the castle are open and grassy.
