Rossano's cathedral treasury holds the Codex Purpureus Rossanensis, a 6th-century illuminated gospel manuscript and UNESCO Memory of the World listing, while the town's old liquorice-processing history is preserved in a small museum run by the Amarelli family. The old-town lanes climbing to the cathedral are stepped and largely shaded.
