Riserva Naturale Monterufoli-Caselli, Val di Cecina

Toscana

Monterufoli-Caselli is one of the wildest reserves in central Tuscany — cork oak, strawberry tree and Montpellier maple over serpentine rock, cut by the clear Trossa and Adio streams, with the ruins of 19th- and 20th-century mines and a narrow-gauge railway bed. Long tracks cross it; you can walk half a day and see no one.
