Between Marina di Ragusa and Donnalucata the Irminio reaches the sea through a belt of high dunes, a brackish reed marsh and one of the few surviving stands of natural Aleppo pine and juniper on this coast — home to Hermann's tortoise and, on passage, herons and bee-eaters. Flat sand paths cross it to a wide free beach.
