A short walk from the car park leads over garrigue and bare limestone to the black-and-white lighthouse of Punta Palascìa — the true "finis terrae" of Italy, the first place in the country to see the sunrise. Coast paths run north toward Otranto and south past coves and old bauxite quarries.
