Pollenzo was once a full Roman municipium, and traces of its amphitheatre and street grid survive in open farmland beside a striking neo-Gothic complex the House of Savoy built as a model agricultural estate — today home to the University of Gastronomic Sciences. Flat paths link the ruins along the Tanaro riverbank.
