Rising sharply behind the pasta town of Gragnano, Pizzo San Michele is one of the higher points of the Monti Lattari at over 1,500 m. The trail switchbacks up through holm oak and beech to a bare summit ridge, with Vesuvius, the Gulf of Naples and Capri all visible on a clear day.
