Monte Midia rises at the western end of Abruzzo, its rounded top all pasture and low beech. A forest road and path climb from Camerata Nuova or the Vallone di Fua to the summit ridge, from where the Velino-Sirente, the Ernici and the Simbruini all stand up around the broad Palentini plain.
