Monte Lauro, Monti Iblei

Sicilia

Monte Lauro (986 m) is the old volcanic centre from which the black lava of the Iblei plateau flowed. Tracks climb through cork oak and pasture from Buccheri or Cassaro to the grassy top, from where the eye runs over the whole south-east — Etna to the north, the Ragusa tableland and the sea to the south.
