Monte Canto is the green spine of the "Isola" — the triangle of land where the Brembo meets the Adda north of Bergamo. Field lanes and forest tracks run its length, chestnut and oak on the slopes, passing the isolated Romanesque abbey of Sant'Egidio in Fontanella and open points that look out over both river valleys to the Alps.
