Moliterno gives its name to the Canestrato di Moliterno, a hard sheep's-milk cheese traditionally aged in fondachi — naturally cool, ventilated cave rooms built into the hillside. Countryside paths lead out from the town through the pasture that supplies the milk, with views across the Val d'Agri.
