Metaponto — Parco Archeologico delle Tavole Palatine

Long before Metaponto's beaches became a summer destination, this was one of the wealthiest Greek colonies in Magna Graecia. Fifteen surviving Doric columns of a temple to Hera, known locally as the Tavole Palatine, stand in open pasture, easy to reach and rarely crowded outside the summer beach season.
